General Electric Plastics, 1986 - 1990, Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands.
- Maintenance Engineer for the Noryl compounding plant. Responsible for reduction of downtime production apparatus by means of preventive maintenance programmes.

-Maintenance Supervisor for Noryl compounding plant. Overall responsibility for plant’s maintenance and renovation projects with the aim to improve the plant’s production and reliability performance.
Overall responsibility for the annual two week shutdown period.







Lac Bay Resort - Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles. 1991 - 1996

Own employer, in consultation with the island government of the island an abandoned hotel complex, formerly part of a large scale time sharing project, was acquired. Years before, after having completed the first main building, for political motives the area of construction was declared nature reserve prompting the original initiative takers to abandon the project..
In adopting this project, financed from own funds initially in a later stage supported by a local financing bank, a total renovation of the complex was conducted that included landscaping. Apartments were sold to Dutch and American investors and introduced into a rental pool. In a next project phase three luxury prefab villas, Etap design (Belgium), were sold and built. In order to complete the hotel’s infrastructure a Mistral windsurfing was implemented to attract the windsurfing public to this part of the island known for perfect trade winds.
The entire daily operation of the complex was done by me. In 1996, the hotel company was sold to a Dutch entrepreneur on the island.

1997 - Today
Jungle Lodge Ltda-1996 -. Manaus, Brazilian Amazon. Founder and co-owner

With the knowledge and experiences from the Caribbean project a move was made to the Brazilian Amazon where a terrain was acquired into pristine forest, 2 hours by car from the capital of the Amazonas state Manaus.
Fully to own ideas a sustainable ecological hotel operation was built from scratch existing of 20 apartments with service buildings in traditional Indigenous style. The complex was built fully under the FSC “Green Label”. Goal to implement a hotel operation with a minimum of environmental impact was fully achieved. In addition a survival camp, deep into the pristine forest, was built for adventurous purposes including the creation of two large lakes with tropical beaches. All activities that forms part of the so called Jungle Lodge systems were designed and sold to the international public.
The hotel, as already mentioned, has a low impact effect into the environment; water, after having been used, is returned into nature following a 100% biological treatment. Solid waste is selected and partly returned to the capital Manaus for recycling.
Daily activities as organized by the hotel are educational by nature and take place by means of non destructive ways to the environment.
With that philosophy in mind Jungle Lodge has been awarded for three successive years for being “One of the Best Travel Operators on Earth” in 2007, 8 and 9, of the in total 38 operations.

Technical Projects 2002 - 2010;
To remain and to keep the technical knowledge of myself up to date on a fair level in a remote region as the Amazon a number of annual projects were realized in which 4 to 5 months per year were reserved for that purpose. Manaus is considered the 3rd industrial town of Brazil with over 800 companies officially registered.
The most important interim jobs in the period 2002 -2010 were dedicated to;
2002/4/6/8/10 MIL Madereiras; an industrial lumber company with a monthly production of over 3000 metrical tons of pre-manufactured hardwood. This company is known in the Netherlands with the quality FSC Green Label and is practicing Sustainable Foresting. Responsible as Maintenance Engineer on bi-annual base for various maintenance projects like revision and renewal/installation of log band saw mills, surveyerbelt system, related manufacturing equipment, dryers and transport equipment. From 2008 additional work was extended with –mechanical- related maintenance and modifications activities to an 8 megawatt bio mass power plant.
Having the responsibility for abovementioned maintenance and modification activities in which was reported to the –Dutch- director of this company, at the end of the project a final report was produced that included recommendations for next upcoming bi-annual maintenance services to company apparatus. ( I remained daily available for eventual technical emergencies).
Other activities were located for an industrial printing company (maintenance) and shipyard company ( reorganizing in and external storage warehouse )
